Frequently asked questions about Malaita Cruises
If your questions are not answered here, please email or phone or write to us.
When do you operate?
Malaita Cruises operates from June through to the end of January each year.
What tours are available on what days?
On Monday to Friday we go to Low Isles.
We are available 7 days a week for private charters.
How many passengers do we carry?
In keeping with our aims of environmentally friendly tourism we take only a maximum of 22 passengers on our cruises, which mean you are a name not a number.
Where do we check in and what time do we depart and return?
Check in is at the SV Malaita at Marina Mirage (Port Douglas marina) Berth C5 between 8.00-8.30
Departure is at 8.30am and Return at 4.00pm. However we are a sailing boat not a train
so sometimes this may be 10-15 minutes either side depending on wind. Some days we also have tidal constraints that requires we depart and return at different times. All guests will be notified if there are tidal considerations when booking in.
Do we provide transfers?
For our guests staying in Port Douglas transfers are part of your ticket fare. As we use a limousine company, either a stretch limo or Tarago will pick you up and drop you off, depending on availability. For guests outside of the Port Douglas area we can arrange a Limousine or bus. Limousine prices are available on request. We use a Cairns bus company who charges $25 return from Cairns.
