Island Snorkel Tour
When: | By Private Charter only |
Where: | Our private mooring located at Low Isles 7.8 nautical miles NNE of Port Douglas North Queensland. |
What: | Two coral sand cays (Low Isle and Woody Isle) surrounded by 200 hectares (approx 100 acres) of mid shelf reef situated in the sheltered waters of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. No fishing has been allowed in this location for many years which means that the fish and turtles are plentiful, inquisitive and friendly |
Home to | Ospreys and sea eagles. Over 100 types of hard and soft corals. Schools of tropical fish (including Nimo), Dugongs and green and loggerhead turtles reside in these waters and often swim with our guests. |
Suitability: | All ages and swimming ability. Experience in snorkeling is an advantage but not essential as guidance is available from our skilled staff. |
Itinerary: | We sail to Low Isles and snorkel from the beach in the sheltered blue lagoon between the coral sand cays in the morning. Following a tropical lunch and marine naturalist presentation we snorkel the ancient pinnacle reef structures surrounding the Malaita in the afternoon. Then sails are set and we head back to Port Douglas. |
Options: | Snorkel at your leisure, join our guided snorkel tours or for those who want a dry marine experience accompany our marine naturalist in our glass bottom boat tour. Some guests chose to spend maximum time in the water while others opt for a tropical beach or just relaxing on board our classical yacht in the Coral Sea with a book or glass of wine. |
