What if I have never snorkelled before or not for a while?
Beginners — Snorkelling is the art of viewing the marine world at your own level of comfort, a unique personal experience. The reef within the blue lagoon starts right from knee depth so you can experience the wonders of snorkelling in shallow water. Our skilled staff can provide one on one guidance to ensure you are able to experience the wonders of the Great barrier Reef within you own comfort zone.
The more experienced— With over 200 varieties of hard and soft coral and an abundance of turtles, migratory fish and giant clams this reef will provide hours of enjoyment at any depth.
Our skilled staff provides guidance for the novice or experienced snorkellors who would like to refresh their techniques. Malaita only caters for snorkellors (diving is not offered, except on private charters) so the day is set up for your snorkelling requirements
What if I can’t swim?
The crew will look after you. We have floatation devices and available onboard. There are two snorkel stations on the island and snorkel tour to hold on to while you build up your confidence. The crew will also hop in the water with you until you are comfortable or we have a glass bottom boat for those who don’t want to get wet.
Can I wear glasses or contact lenses when snorkelling?
We have prescription masks on board the boat for hire at $5.00. Please notify us when booking.
